me and I'll forget. Show me and I may not remember.
Involve me and I'll understand."

This
site is dedicated to rescue groups.
They are unsung heroes. It is their courage and dedication
that save so many discarded Pekingese yearly. We salute
and thank them.
In
memory of Gizmo, the forgotten Pekingese:
I hope your journey to Rainbow Bridge was a safe one.
I will forever regret not being able to save you. I
hope you are receiving the love and kindness that was denied
to you in this life.
Please
make shelter life your last alternative.
The Pekingese do not function well in shelters. They
are the Lion Breed, and their roar could be mistaken
for aggressive behavior, which would deem them not adoptable,
and give them an automatic death sentence.
Pekingese
have a limited breathing capability. Due to this,
they can get very ill in the shelters. There is nothing
sadder than seeing the proud Pekingese laying in filth, sick,
and waiting to be rescued.
Pekingese
is a lap dog breed. They do not function
as outside dogs. They were bred to be companions to
the Emperor's of China, and court English royalty. Please
do not own a Pekingese unless they will be considered a loved
family members. If you are thinking of giving away a
Pekingese, please do not abandon it in the streets.
They cannot function as strays. We will do whatever
we can to assist you in finding a new home for your Pekingese.
A
Pekingese, as any pet, is a lifelong commitment.
Please do not get caught up in that cute puppy unless you
are able to make a long-term commitment to it.
Please
spay and neuter your pet. They will be much happier
and healthier.
Do
not try to breed your Pekingese. One out of every
four purebred dogs die in a shelter before the age of one.
Please do not give your baby Pekingese that fate.
To
our breeders: Please pledge to screen all potential
Pekingese owners. Please do not condemn our beloved
Pekingese to a fate of death. Please "Micro Chip"
all puppies before selling them, and make a pledge to help
find new homes if left at a shelter or in the street to die.
To
all Pekingese lovers: Write your elected official
to make puppy mills illegal and to prosecute offenders to
the fullest extent of the law. Please do not buy from pet
shops. Buy only from a licensed, regulated breeder.
If you need help finding one, please contact us, and we will
gladly help you find such a breeder. Please remember
that a puppy is like a child, it does not come educated.
Training is the most important element of a well-behaved puppy.
